SPIRITUAL FORMATION

SPIRITUAL FORMATION

At Christ Church NYC, we know that we can always grow in our love of God and neighbor. All year long, we host a variety of opportunities for spiritual formation that create space for curiousity and creativity as we learn, grow, and form our spiritual lives in community. Find out more about our special events and regular programming below, or contact Rev. Tyler Heston (Minister for Spiritual Formation and LGBTQIA+ Development) for more information.

Retreats & Events

Day retreats, weekend retreats, and other special events.

Summer Day Retreat
Saturday, July 11, 10:00 am to 2:30 pm

Stay tuned for more information for a day retreat this summer that invites participants into a chance to connect, learn about meditation, and enjoy a day together.

Lenten Labyrinth Sundays
Sundays, March 22 and 29, 12:15-1:00 pm

As we move along our Lenten Path towards Easter, we invite you to walk the prayer labyrinth after 11:00 worship on Sundays, March 22 and 29.

A labyrinth looks like a maze, but it is not something in which one gets lost. There is one way into the center and then back out to where you began. An ancient tool for Christian prayer and meditation, walking a labyrinth creates a sacred movement that provides a tangible connection to our sacred center and source.

To learn more about labyrinths, visit www.umc.org/en/content/a-guided-path.

Our formation offerings for Children, Youth, and Families include weekly Sunday School, Confirmation Class, Parent Small Groups, and events for the whole family.

Find out more by reaching out to Lydia Prather, Director of Ministry for Children, Youth & Families, at lydia@christchurchnyc.org or by signing up for an email newsletter at christchurchnyc.online/families.

The Bridge Wednesday nights

Wednesdays from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in Phillips Hall
Launches in Lent on February 25

The Bridge is a new weeknight program at Christ Church NYC that sets space for lives, stories, and spirit to meet. Following a light supper at 6:00pm, each week offers learning and growth through a centering moment of worship and formative small group conversation.

The Path We Share (Feb. 25 - Mar. 25)
The Bridge launches with a Lenten series called The Path We Share. In our centering moments and small group curriculum, we will both learn about the New Testament book 1 Corinthians and how its conversation about ancient community life can help us think about the path we share as a church today. Registration is requested but not necessary for participation.

Regular Programming

We have opportunities to connect on Sundays and Wednesdays (almost) all year long.
