Serving Opportunites

In order to reach our goal of 200 serving hours in the early days of 2021, we are going to have to get creative about ways that we can serve. Here is an in-depth look at how you can plug in.

Serving with Nido de Esperanza

Time (in person in WH; following all COVID guidelines):

Help us organize Christmas toys for the children (3 hours; weekday)

Wrap presents for our Nido families (3 hours; weekday)

Deliver food and needed items to pregnant moms (2 hours; weekday; car needed)

Help us assemble Christmas grocery bags for our families (3 hours; weekday)

Time (virtual)

Create a special MLK crafts project that our 80 Nido families could do at home (Time- up to you!)

Create a special "snow day" craft project for toddlers that our Nido families could do (Time- up to you!)




Treasure

$10,000 helps us ensure 20 families are not evicted this Christmas

$5,000 provides groceries for 20 families for a week

$2,500 provides textbooks to teach English for our parent classes for 6 months

$1,000 provides a pregnant mom with a "nursery in a box", vitamins, and a doula for the birth

$500 gives the gift of mobility to 4 families (a stroller!)

$250 provides groceries for a family for a week

$100 buys diapers and wipes for a toddler for a month

$50 buys a child a pair of boots and a coat so they can play outside

$25 provides a COVID protection bag for our families (e.g., masks, hand sanitizer)

 

Serving with Sharing Table

 Every Sunday volunteers welcome fellow New Yorkers to share a hot meal. The Sharing Table serves an average of 120 people per Sunday! Volunteers prepare and serve the meals, set the tables and welcome our guests. Volunteers are needed EVERY Sunday. This is a perfect volunteer experience for families (with children 5 years and older), Connection Groups, social/civic clubs, and corporate teams.

Serving with Methodist Home

Our church partners with Methodist Home, a nursing and rehabilitation center, through the creation of virtual visitation events and online presentations. Give of your talents by being a part of one of these special offerings.

Opportunities Include:

  • Recording a virtual performance for one of our online presentations for MH.

  • Chatting over zoom with some of the residents

  • Volunteering to lead a craft project for residents

  • Creating and writing cards
